Procedure
Vicki can work from photographs or life, however, she prefers to work from photographs. Vicki will arrange a photographic session of approximately two to three hours with the client. The client may also request a professional photographer, but the artist would want to be present to suggest various poses and backgrounds that will compliment the sitter and provide interest in the painting. The clientÕs selection of a professional photographer is solely at his or her discretion. The cost of a professional photographer is not included in the portrait fees. If Vicki takes the photographs, the client will be sent email copies of the photographs within two weeks to review along with her recommended selections. After a final photograph or pose is chosen, Vicki will produce a pencil or oil sketch for approval.

Vicki paints the portrait at her studio in her home, and the client is welcome to visit the studio while the painting is in progress. In some cases, she may want to paint several sessions from life, but would arrange a convenient time for the client to sit. Rarely is a life session requested for young children and never for pets. The artist prefers to deliver the finished portrait in person to the client, but will arrange shipping if desired or if the client is not local. Completion time depends on the artist's schedule of current commissions and is generally established at the time of the contract. The client must be flexible on delivery time. Generally a small portrait will take 2 months. Full length figures portraits can take up to 8 months.

Vicki prefers to paint for sitters who are local, in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Please inquire about her ability to travel.
